Bayonetta: Sega Just Got Hot!
I wonder if Bayonetta's game play is as easy as she looks?
Now perhaps the title isn’t exactly fair. Dante was an extremely attractive individual and I enjoyed the Devil May Cry series quite thoroughly for it’s game play. He had tight abs, awesome hair and a bad ass attitude that made you swoon a little…maybe even giggle…I did a little. He was just The Man and although I wouldn’t compare him to someone like Kratos from God of War…Capcom produced a character that gamers (even if they refuse to admit it) fantasized about. He was just that good.
But then, out of nowhere, Sega drops this bombshell of a woman named (I assume) Bayonetta. She sounds like a Tarantino character doesn’t she? I’m not even going to compare the sexuality between these two characters or go into how I think the game play looks yet because well…just watch. BAYONETTA
Although Bayonetta and Devil May Cry are two distinct games and hold their own… Bayonetta seems to give off the Devil May Cry vibe to many people, which makes sense considering Hideki Kamiya (creator of the Devil May Cry series) will be directing Bayonetta. The game play seems to reflect what most people have come to be comfortable with from Devil May Cry and thus the comparison must ultimately be made. Who is supreme in the title of aesthetics?
Maybe some people can turn a blind eye to this, but Sega is blatantly trying to state, “we are sexier then you Capcom.” Somewhere along the line Sonic just stopped doing it for people. Don’t get me wrong he was a very attractive hedgehog but he never tried to wield guns and flash us with his undergarments AT THE SAME TIME! No somewhere down the line Sega put there foot down and said, “We need to trash kid friendly games and do what the family channel does to young celebrities…slut them up!”
Now I may sound like I’m being negative towards this kind of campaigning and in fact I’m very much not. I remain extremely objective on whether I think this kind of sexual ambiguity is necessary in order to sell what looks to be a very decent game. I look very forward to playing it as well when it releases and writing my thoughts on it.
Watch out Capcom because Sega just got a whole lot sexier!

I have to admit, when I first looked at the cover for Bayonetta, the first thing I thought was “oh no, not another Xblades”. A hot chick on the front cover with blades and guns. I bet the games going to be a boring dud. But after watching the trailers and playing the demos, I thought it was one of the best action games I’ve played in awhile. The first thing that came to mind after playing the demo was Devil May Cry. They almost go hand in hand. A demonic cool person ravaging other demonic creatures; It’s almost just like Devil May Cry, except there’s this hot chick with a practically perfect body. Dante’s cool and all, but this chick is major hot. She almost blows Dante out of the water. Not like Dante needs to be super sexy anyways. He’s supposed to be more cool because he’s a dude. I must say, Sega definitely made a huge come back with this game. I’m really anticipating the arrival of this game. I know the game play is going to be awesome, and sexy. A chick that goes half naked while fighting is awesome, and she has kick ass moves. Good job Sega. This game blows XBlades out of the water any day.
