Tired of annoying ads all over your favorite websites? You can use Mozilla Firefox to reduce the amount of spammy ads in your browser and, in turn, speed up your web browsing. Here are five great ways to eliminate annoying advertising from your browsing.

1) Built in ad blocking features

By default Firefox can block pop-ups, javascipt and even skip out on images to speed up your browsing and shorten page load time.

You can also set exceptions with ease. Allowing certain sites to be granted certain behavoir. This helps to maintain the functionality of a website while still getting rid of the things you don’t want (ads).

If you want more control over the content you view and specifically don’t view, there are a number of useful ad-blocking extentions for Firefox.

2) AdBlock Plus

AdBlock Plus extension can block all kinds of online advertisements. Filters can be manually set to block certain items. The most convenient way is to subscribe to filters which automatically block most ads.

Lists should be selected carefully,  some may slow down the browser. It is safe to choose from the filters offered by default upon installation.

3) Add Art

Though not technically an ad-blocker, Add Art works in conjunction with AdBlock Plus to fill the empty space where ads used to be with beautiful artwork.

4)No script

Blocks all javascript… Although this isn’t an ideal solution since some javascript is actually a good thing.  Although many ad units are based in java or javascript, many scripts are also used for enhancing the user experience and some sites will break without it.

5)Yes Script

Uses a slightly different method to block ads. Instead of blocking all javascript it maintains a blacklist for bad pages which you are able to control. So you can edit this blacklist and decide which scripts are advertising scripts and which ones are ok.
