When you are first starting to build links it can be hard to find worthwhile high ranking backlinks which don’t end up costing you money. However, there are so many free ways to get high ranking backlinks that it is only just a matter of time before you stumbleupon traffic building secrets like these.

In this aticle I am going to explain a few guerrilla and grassroots marketting methods for gaining high pagerank links of PR 6 or higher for free. High Ranking Free backlinks are the kind of thing that most bloggers and webmasters only dream about but with a little bit of creative thinking and a little bit of time, you can gain a few valuable links that will help you in you link building campaign. Making sure you never have to spend money on backlinks again. Here are some of my best methods for gaining backlinks with high PR.

Ebay Blogs

Note: eBay blogs are no more. Unfortunately eBay decided to stop hosting free blogs and focus solely on being an online marketplace. Who would have thought? For context reasons I have left this part of the article in tact.

Ebay offers public blogs which are powered by WordPress to all their members. You wont find any elegant WordPress themes when you are setting up your blog, but as soon as you make your first post you will know what the value of these eBay Blogs are. All new blog posts are showed on the main Ebay.com/blogs page which is a PR 6 page. Placing an anchor link pointing to your website in the first line of your ebay blog post immediatly earns you a PR 6 backlink.  It doesn’t last long, as new blogs are posted almost every minute, but it does help. However, you should be careful not to spam the system or your blog will be deleted. It is better if you post a new blog roughly once a week and make sure it has some value for the reader, because once that blog post is no longer on the latest blogs list, your PR 6 link is gone and the only value it will have is one more backlink from a blog post, and you’ll be relying on clickthroughs at this point.

Apple iPhone Web Apps

Another way to improve your pagerank by taking advantage of free high PR links comes from the Apple web Apps section. Apple lists all their Web applications on a page called http://www.apple.com/webapps which has a Google Page rank of 7!  Just imagine if you were an Iphone developer, what a free link like that could do for your website rankings. Well, here is how to be an iphone developer: Download the plugin for WordPress, WP-Touch. Wp-touch turns your website into an iPhone web app for iPhone visitors only, it doesn’t affect your website for normal viewers, but when visitors arrive on IPhone and iPod touch browsers they see your site as if it were an IPhone app. Congratulations. You’re an iPhone developer! lol. Now all you need to do is submit your application to the web app page. If you don’t believe this works, just check out the PR 7 backlink I got to my new website about North Bay, Ontario in the iphone web apps section. Your site will first show up in the recent applications page, a PR 7 web link, then after it has fallen down the list into obscurity it will remain a permanent link from apple.com within its’ own category of applications.

If you really want a high PR backlink there is one thing you can do that will skyrocket your traffic and rankings and increase your Google pagerank, just by leaving comments! When major developments come from companies that are web-based, such as a recent development in WordPress, the companies often post them to their blogs, which get massive traffic and linkage. If you can be the first to leave a comment on one of these announcements, it will do wonders for your pagerank. The WordPress development blog doesn’t allow comments, but they do allow trackbacks. Being the first to blog about a new development (aside from the developers) is always a good thing in the eyes of Google, but having your trackback as the first link in the comments section of a major news development will send your blog to pr 6 or higher like nothing else possibly could.
